Our business is now entering the next phase,
celebrating our 25th year anniversary
To preserve the structure of the industry, a handful of dominant operators can provide global services using organically built networks. However, this scenario means that smaller operator’s and their respective networks go underutilized.
IPS’s mission is to leverage on the existing networks of smaller operators, fill in infrastructure coverage gaps, and enable an aggregate network that can rival the performance of mega-carrier’s networks. We are envisioning not simply an alliance of operators but also a structure where individual operators will actually own portions of the resulting mega-carrier.
The high-speed internet network in the Philippines is in a state of flux and significantly lags behind many of the its Asian neighbors. A nationwide transmission backbone, other than those owned by the two dominant players, is sorely lacking. We are looking into forming an alliance with the national power grid operator whose transmission network incudes idle fiber that can be lit up to carry internet. If we are successful in making this happen, we are in a position to provide reliable internet connectivity all the way to the rural areas while keeping prices at a relative minimum.
Carriers focusing on business opportunities among potential clients in different regions, of different core specializations and of varying scales, is nothing new. We have always been willing to take on non-core business areas to enhance the attractiveness of our service offerings vis-à-vis new partners.
Our goal is to be able to provide redundancy and reliability of service by overlaying seamless non-core functionalities on diverse networks. We will concentrate and focus on very niche service markets via deeper engagements with the client base and extract maximum profitability from such an engagement.
A number of niche markets have been left unattended due to prevailing trends of consolidation. We see a role in creating and maximizing niche market benefits and valuations.
Aggregating diverse networks into a seamless and efficiently functioning core network, to be sure, has its advantages. Participants from other specializations coming on to the same network can take advantage of the extensive knowledge base of the core operator and may lead to synergistic diversification into the communications business.
There are various efficiencies that can be achieved in the scenario that we are are promoting. From outright operating costs reductions to wider service coverage, uniting into a more efficient entity is what we aim to deliver.
